Vanguard incorporates signature based AV
scanning as the first line of
defense against viruses.
To be effective signature based scanning
needs to be kept up to date. Using Gordano's patented update
technology Gordano AV can update as often as every 15 minutes.
Update requests are periodically sent securely to Gordano's
servers where any updates required are returned. These updates
are then applied to the running server with no need to restart
services, this not only applies to AV signature but to the
AV engine and MIME decoding engine as well.
Vanguard's AV uses a layered approach
to detect viruses using 2 completely separate MIME decoders
of independent code base to ensure that mal-formed infected
messages have the best chance of detection. The same applies
to other encoding formats such as TNEF, UU, BinHex and YEnc
encodings. |
